The Old Government Buildings and the Faculty of Law
The Old Government Buildings have been the home of the Law school since 1996. Due to their proximity to Parliament, the grounds were claimed as a campsite during the unrest in February-March 2022.
As part of reclaiming this unique building, and to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, we asked some of the staff that work at the Law school to share some of their favourite spaces. From kauri panels and generous staircases to stone vaults (and the basement in which Te Tiriti o Waitangi | Treaty of Waitangi was stored, lost, and found again), the OGB is rich in history and unique places for teaching and learning.
